************************* Two females charged for shoplifting

Twenty-six-year-old Amber Dawn Stringer of 538 Sherbourne Street and 26-year-old Melissa Michelle Filby of 154 Alexandra Street were arrested at 2:15 p.m. yesterday by loss prevention officers at Wal-Mart.

It is alleged that both accused parties took assorted makeup items and concealed them in other items that they then paid for.

The accused Stringer also [allegedly] removed the tag from a sun hat [not exactly as illustrated], placed it on her head and left the store without paying for this item as well.

Police attended the scene and both accused parties are now required to attend court on the 31st of May at 9 a.m.

************************* Unlawfully at large

A 16-year-old male youth was arrested on the 30th of April at 3:30 a.m. in the West End of the city for being unlawfully at large.

It is alleged that the accused had run away from a West End group home while in the custody of that facility.

He was also on probation at the time with a condition to keep the peace and be of good behavior and was thus additionally charged.

He is presently awaiting bail court.

************************* Break and enters

- There was an attempt to gain entry to a shed in the 500 block of Korah Road. The damage was noticed yesterday afternoon (29th of April) but may have occurred earlier.

- The Beer Store at 250 Bruce Street was broken into on the 30th of April at approximately 1:28 a.m. The front glass window was smashed and some beer was taken from the display.

************************* Thefts from vehicles

There were reports of thefts from a vehicle on Arizona Avenue, Parkdale Drive, and to a vehicle that was parked in the Station Mall parking lot yesterday. Items stolen include a purse, groceries and clothing items.
