Algoma University’s Board of Governors is looking for new external members.

It is seeking applicants with experience in governance, who will ensure the board collectively reflects the diversity of Canadian society and the students at the school.

The university is committed to leading on equity, diversity and inclusion, and has a special mission to be a teaching-oriented university, fostering cross-cultural learning between Anishinaabe cultures and non-Indigenous communities.

“Some of the core attributes for candidates include strategic leadership, stakeholder relationship building, integrity, diversity of thought and perspective, governance experience and championing higher education and the university’s Special Mission,” the board said in a news release.

“In this round of recruitment and selection, the board is also seeking candidates with skills in accounting, cybersecurity, finance, legal and risk management.”

External board members can’t be students, staff or faculty members at the university.

Applications can be submitted until April 29.
