Staff and faculty at Algoma University College are downing generous amounts of champagne and orange juice this morning.

And unless we're mistaken, the champagne is disappearing faster than the o.j.

Everyone's celebrating there because a bill granting the school independence from Laurentian University passed third reading in the Ontario Legislature this morning.

Now that Bill 80 has been passed, it's expected it will receive royal assent from the lieutenant governor at the end of the spring session.
