Active COVID cases up in Algoma: APH

The active COVD-19 case count in Algoma rose by 14 on Wednesday to a total of 448.

There are four additional active cases in the region that are non-Algoma residents who are temporarily in the region. That total is down by one from Tuesday's update.

The number of confirmed cases in the region is up by 57 to a total of 4,437 in 2022 and 6,641 since the beginnning of the pandemic.

The number of resolved cases is 6,193.

Hospitalization numbers were not updated at the time of writing.

The number of patients hospitalized in the Algoma region with COVID-19 rose by two on Tuesday while th enumber of ICU patients with confirmed COVID-19 was up by one on Tuesday.

Uptated hospitalization numbers will be added to this story should they become available.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region.
