Active cases drop, hospitalizations increase by one in Monday update: APH

The number of active COVID-19 cases has decreased by 33 to 354 in the latest update from Algoma Public Health.

Monday's update now includes cases from Saturday and Sunday. 

APH is also reporting an increase in hospitalized patients with COVID as well with five people in hospital as of Monday afternoon.

There are currently four ICU patients with confirmed COVID-19 in Algoma.

The number of confirmed cases in the region rose by 119 over the past three days to a total of 5,826, of which 3,622 cases were confirmed in 2022.

The number of resolved cases is up by 152 to 5,472.

Note: As of Dec. 31, 2021, the province has limited COVID-19 PCR testing to the highest risk populations. Furthermore, some people with mild or asymptomatic infection may not seek testing. Algoma Public Health states that the numbers of confirmed cases are an underestimate of the actual number of people with COVID-19 in the Algoma region. Monday's update now includes cases from Saturday and Sunday.
