Accused dope dealer picked up on Albert St

Fifty-one-year-old James Gilbert of 566 Albert Street West, upstairs has been charged with drug trafficking and other offences after the City Police street team stopped him at vehicle check last night.

Fifty-one-year-old James Gilbert of 566 Albert Street West, upstairs has been charged with drug trafficking and other offences after the City Police street team stopped him at vehicle check last night.

Police say Gilbert was found to be in possession of more than 22 grams of cocaine, some of it in small packages, when he was stopped in a laneway in the 500 block of Albert Street West just after 10 p.m. last night.

In addition to the trafficking charge, he's facing charges of possessing a controlled drug or substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Street value of the seized drugs was estimated at $2,250.

Gilbert was remanded to bail court on Tuesday.
