The following weather advisory was issued by the Northeast Region OPP at 7:56 a.m. today.
Freezing rain warnings are in effect this morning for the Greater Sudbury and North Bay/ Nipissing regions.
SooToday.com's sister website, BayToday.ca, reports that school buses in North Bay, West Parry Sound and West Nipissing are cancelled today because of road conditions.
Schools remain open there, however.

(Northeast Region, ON) - Temperature fluctuations throughout the North East Region today may cause serious problems for motorists as a result of freezing rain.
If using the highways today please be careful, slow down and adjust your plans accordingly.
Give yourself additional time to reach your destination.
*********************** 7:08 a.m. - Freezing rain warning for Greater Sudbury and North Bay/ Nipissing Regions
Freezing rain likely beginning this morning.
This is a warning that an extended period of freezing rain is imminent or occurring in these regions.
Monitor weather conditions. Listen for updated statements.
A low pressure system currently over Michigan will continue to track northeastward towards Lake Huron this morning.
An area of rain well ahead of this system will combine with temperatures below the zero mark this morning over much of the North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa regions and the precipitation will likely arrive as freezing rain.
In general the freezing precipitation is expected to be fairly brief - an hour or two, changing to rain or wet snow later this morning.
Travellers are advised to exercise caution and adjust plans accordingly.
Environment Canada continues to monitor this developing situation and this bulletin will be updated as conditions warrant.
