On the 25 January 2014 City Police were called to the area of the Market Mall regarding a disorderly male.

On arrival the officers located a man in an intoxicated condition.

He was belligerent to passersby and refusing to follow directions given to him to stop his behaviour.

Despite being offered a ride to a more comfortable abode at the Detoxification Centre, his aggressive nature and intoxicated state gave officers no choice but to have the 42-year-old man spend the night at the City Police holding cells.

The man was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

He will be released when he is better able to care for himself and no longer a danger to anyone else.
