Olivia Chartrand, at the ripe old age of six, is almost a veteran YMCA March Break Camp participant.

It's Olivia's second year and she already knows she wants to come back in 2009.

She also has a pretty good idea of who she wants to make stuff for.

When SooToday.com asked Chartrand for whom she was making this bracelet, she responded in no uncertain terms: "mom."

Olivia is one of more than 150 children aged four to 12 who were at the Y all day Wednesday for its March Break Camp, which continues all this week.

Each of the five days of camp haw a theme and Sault Ste. Marie YMCA members or non-member children can join, either for the week or for individual days.

Sault YMCA Coordinator of Marketing and Communications Tannis McMillan said there are still a few spaces available for Thursday and Friday.

"We have an amazing and large group of volunteers who make it possible," said McMillan. "They are energetic, enthusiastic and make it a lot of fun."

She said the children participating in the camp will be spending their days swimming, playing games and working on craft projects like the bracelet Chartrand is making for her mom.

The pools are also open to all youth for a small cost to participate in open swims Thursday and Friday.
