Undaunted by COVID-19 restrictions, Culture Days will be celebrated this year, but in different forms.

The Sault Ste. Marie Downtown Association (DTA) and the Sault Ste. Marie Museum will be holding an outdoor, pop-up fall market behind the museum at 690 Queen St. E. from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1.

The market will include 10 vendors selling a variety of unique handmade merchandise, including soaps and candles, beadwork, quillwork, art, housewares, vintage and upcycled clothing.

Case’s Music will be playing live music from the museum’s bay doors.

Tents will be set up for vendors, artists, food and beverages and community-engaged art activities.

Tents will be spaced apart in observance of physical distancing guidelines.

Masks are required for shoppers and browsers, physical distancing encouraged for all those who attend. There will be free parking available nearby.

From Oct. 5 to 10, the museum and DTA are also partnering to hold a Selfie Scavenger Hunt at local landmarks as another Culture Days 2020 feature.

Participants may download the On This Spot app on their mobile devices, or visit www.onthisspot.ca to find local historical and cultural sites of interest nearby.

People are being encouraged to take part, visit as many locations as possible, photograph themselves at those spots then submit their photos to the Sault Ste. Marie Museum at www.bit.ly/saultots to be entered in the competition for one of three prizes.

There will be a prize for most locations visited, most creative photos, and one random draw.
