NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE. MARIE LUNG ASSOCIATION

*************************** Now in its thirteenth year, the Lung Association’s Festival of Trees is an extraordinary charity fundraiser that attracts young and old alike from across Algoma to the Region’s traditional launch of the holiday season.

Imagine the ballroom and lobby of the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront Hotel and Conference Centre transformed into a festive forest - a winter wonderland.

The Lung Association’s Festival of Trees runs from Thursday, November 17 to Sunday, November 20.

Guests of the Festival will have an opportunity to view and bid on beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and over 50 other items donated by many generous local businesses for our silent auction and they may try their luck with the raffle Items as well.

“For the Guys” there will be trees and items for auction and raffle that will be themed just for the sports fanatic and outdoorsman alike, so don’t get left behind!

And don’t miss the ever popular Savoy’s Jewellers diamond tree.

Be one of the hundred people to purchase an ornament, bring it in to Savoy’s on Queen Street the following Monday for appraisal and you might be surprised to find the one ornament containing a diamond valued at $1,500!

Children will enjoy the festival too.

They will delight in making complimentary tree ornaments in the Kiwanis Childrens’ Activity Centre and be able to mail their Letters to Santa thanks to the Algoma District Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario and Canada Post.

Pictures with Santa will be available by Naturally Photography along with complimentary face painting on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m only.

Holiday shopping is made simple in the Essar Steel Secret Shop.

No moms or dads allowed!

Children are given the opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends all priced under $5 each, wrapped and ready to go under the tree.

The Station Mall merchants will add to the children’s festivities by hosting a breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The breakfast will be held in the food court of the Station Mall from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 20.

Tickets are $4 per person.

This event sells out every year, so get your tickets early at the Mall Office.

Participants will enjoy breakfast, a surprise for each child and draws throughout the morning.

The Sault and area business community will be on hand for the official opening of the Festival of Trees at the RBC Take 5, Thursday, November 17, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Enjoy the EZ Rock Coffee House.

From 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursday evening, visitors purchasing a pass to the Festival will savour complimentary hot drinks and treats from Tim Hortons.

General admission passes to the festival are $12 per family (two adults and three children), $6 for adults, $3 for seniors, and $2 for children (under 10).

Festival passes are valid for the duration of the festival.

The price includes admission to all of the events, with the exception of the Take 5 and breakfast with Santa.

All proceeds from the event support the Lung Association in our research, advocacy and education efforts to improve lung health.
