Environment Canada is predicting temperatures no higher than -7 Celcius today as SooToday.com, the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre and Sault Search and Rescue present the 2007 Bon Soo Polar Bear Swim.

The ever-popular event starts at 1 p.m. at Bellevue Park near the sailing club, and this year, they've added a closing ceremony at 2 p.m.

There's a 30 percent chance of snowflurries this morning.

This year, Bon Soo has introduced a whole whack of brand-new offerings at the new Bellevue Park location, and SooToday.com's Peter Gualtieri caught a lot of it on video yesterday.

And come back later to see more of Pete's video from today's Polar Bear Swim.

Meanwhile, Bon Soobies are invited to sign Support Our Troops banners today at the Polar Bear Swim.

The following news release was issued by Captain Roy Harten, Commanding Officer 2310 RC(ARMY)CC:

************************* The community is invited to come out and sign the two Support our Troops Bon Soo Winter Carnival banners.

The banners will be available for signing as part of the activities at Bellevue Park today from 11:00 hrs to 16:00 hrs at the 2310 Royal Canadian Army Cadet display.

The 2310 will be alongside other local military units on display, 49th Field Regiment and the 26th Service Battalion along with the Canadian Forces Recruiting Centre.

Family members of currently deployed Canadian Forces Regular Force and Reserve Force will be at the signing tables were the banners will be located.

Take a moment to ask the families about what their sons and grandsons have been doing in Afghanistan.

The two banners were made possible with donations from local businesses which have their business name on the banner.

The reason for two banners is that for the opening of the Steelback Centre, the Steelback Centre Support our Troops banner became filled up on both sides with well wishes and signatures thanks to the community's support.

The Steelback Centre banner is currently hung in the recreational centre called Canada House at Kandahar Air Field.

Thank you to the following businesses for their donationL

- Verne's Hardware - Town and Country Towing - Sault Forest Products - Maitland Lewis Ford - CSC Enterprises - Chartwell Catering - Soo Glass and Ceramics - Off the Top Hairstyle - Reliable Esso - A&M Uniforms - Northland Animal Hospital - Trading Post
