This past week, we were showing you a reader-submitted photo of a pair of bald eagles spotted by a SooToday.com reader near Thessalon.

Today, we're pleased to show you a bald eagle photographed much closer to home by faithful reader Karen Coutu.

"We have a bald eagle in the Sault, too," Karen tells us. "You can see him sitting on a dead tree branch on Old Garden River Road and the corner of Landslide Road.

"We saw him in the beginning of March," she says. "I have not seen him since."

************************* We get mail

Hi Dave:

Further to our conversation regarding an eagle at the corner of Old Garden River Road and Landslide Road, the property the tree is on was called Eagle View Farm.

It was sold in 2004.

I am Mari Eagle-Nichols, born and raised on Eagle View Farm.

It was originally called Best-Mar Ranch.

My parents bought the farm in 1956 off Mr. Best and Mr. Marshall. They passed away in 2002 and 2005.

Dad (Eagle Drive) was 89, and my mom 91, both born and raised in the Soo as well.

The first time we saw an eagle was in 2002 but we have heard they are getting quite comfortable to the privacy of the neighbourhood.
