Ontario Provincial Police advise SooToday.com that the Tarbutt Township incident is entirely unrelated to yesterday's occurrences at Central Algoma Secondary School.

7:30 a.m. update

Portions of Government Road remain closed to traffic. The buses that travel through this route to Central Algoma Secondary School and Johnson Tarbutt Central School will have to take a detour around the road closure. The Ontario Provincial Police advise that there is no danger to the public.

TARBUTT TOWNSHIP, ON - On April 23, 2009 at approximately 4:30 p.m. the East Algoma OPP received a call involving a residence on MacLennan Road, Tarbutt Township, Ontario.

As a result, MacLennan Road North from Birch Street to North of Government Road (approximately 200 metres) and Government Road from the Barr Road Junction to McKnight Junction have been closed due to a police situation.

Access is available to those residents living in the Birch Hill subdivision.
