7500 Taxi to launch pet taxi service

************************* A local taxi company has added another service for Sault Ste. Marie residents who are pet owners.

The grand opening is scheduled for May 5, 2007 and this date was not picked by coincidence.

On May 5, 2004, the founder of 7500 Taxi company, Floyd Waite, passed away, leaving the business he built to his son Ric Waite and his wife Kim.

Ric and his wife relocated to Sault Ste. Marie in 2004 to continue the family business that Floyd started in 1989.

Floyd formed 7500 Taxi with only one car and a passion for driving.

For the past nine years, 7500 Taxi has partnered with North 82 restaurant, providing free transportation for those in need to enjoy a complimentary Christmas dinner.

Also rides are provided to church goers in need of transportation on Sunday, in exchange for a contribution of nonperishable items donated to the Soup Kitchen.

The 7500 Taxi has found another way to fulfill a need within the community by developing their new Pet Taxi.

Since methods of transporting small animals are limited, many pet owners have difficulty getting their pets to veterinary appointments and to other locations.

With this custom-built van, equipped with safe, secure and clean transport crates, there is an affordable transportation alternative for Soo residents and their pets.

Many residents who do not have their own transportation, may now feel adopting a pet is a possibility for them.

The new green (with gold detailing) Pet Taxi, is visibly different from the rest of the fleet, and will be on display at the grand opening.

This special event is hosted by the Canadian Legion, at 96 Great Northern Road, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on May 5, an anniversary and significant day for the family and employees of 7500 Taxi.
