Highway 17 North is still closed as of 6:30 p.m., OPP Acting Sergeant Gaudreau told SooToday.com.

Here is the OPP news release on the highway closure sent out this morning.

************************* 7 a.m. update on road closure

Sault Ste. Marie OPP are advising the public that the road remains closed on Highway 17 North at Batchawana through to Wawa due to poor road and weather conditions resulting from snow squalls and white-outs in that area.

The highway is expected to remain closed for a minimum of three more hours.

Updates will be sent as information becomes available.
