The crashed transport that snarled traffic this afternoon on Highway 17 B has been removed.

The trailer contained frozen food

Its refrigeration unit continued to work and it's expected the load will be salvaged.

The trailer was hoisted out of the bush beside the road using a Sterling crane and two tow trucks from Town & Country Towing.

It took one-and-a-half hours from when the straps and hooks were placed at the beginning of the recovery, to when the trailer was neatly placed on the curb side eastbound lane of Trunk Road.

The trailer was undamaged by the lift and, once the locked brakes were released, it was hauled away to the Husky East by a Town & Country tractor.

There was a bit of noise from a loose piece of the damaged front axle of the trailer rubbing a tire, but it moved straight and without incident from the scene of the crash to the Husky.

It took about an hour to set up the crane.

The tractor was successfully removed from the bush without spilling any diesel fuel and was also towed away by one of the Town & Country trucks.

It sustained heavy damage to the front end from the crash and no further damage from recovery.
