************************* Significant snowfall tonight through Wednesday

Another Colorado low has developed and has its sights set on the Great Lakes for tonight and Wednesday.

Snow ahead of this system has already spread across regions located east of Lake Superior to the Nickel Belt region.

The snow will continue tonight into Wednesday.

The most intense bands of snow are occurring along the eastern shores of Lake Superior as southerly winds pick up enhanced moisture off of Lake Superior.

This will particularly affect the snow-belt corridor north of Sault Ste. Marie along highway 17 through Wawa then along the northern shoreline of Lake Superior.

Snow accumulations near 15 centimetres are possible by Wednesday afternoon.

Brisk winds at times will create some blowing and drifting snow as well.

More snowfall is expected through Wednesday as the Colorado low gets closer to the warned areas.

This will affect regions from Sault Ste. Marie east to the Nickel Belt with total snowfall amounts of 10 to 15 centimetres is possible by Wednesday evening.

A winter storm watch is currently in effect for the Nickel Belt and Kirkland Lake areas and might be upgraded to a winter storm or snowfall warning as new information becomes available.
