Forest fire situation update - Northeast Region

One new fire has been confirmed today, July 9 in the Parry Sound area.

Parry Sound 22 is currently one hectare in size and not under control.

On July 8, one new fire was confirmed in the Northeast Region, making it the 350th fire of the season for the Northeast.

Sudbury 64 was confirmed at 0.1 hectares west of Sudbury and is now out.

As the hazard is high across the region and continues to build, a reminder to the public to use extreme care and caution in all outdoor activities during this high hazard time.

The MNR does not currently have a Restricted Fire Zone in place, however many municipalities do.

If you are contemplating the use of a campfire, please check with your local municipality for restrictions they may have in place.
 
There are currently 18 fires in the Northeast Region, burning 48118.5 hectares.
 
To date, there have been 351 fires in the Northeast Region, having burnt 49672.6 hectares.
