The OPP advise that Hwy 17 is now open.

************************* Two vehicle crash closes Hwy 17 North Bay to Sturgeon Falls

NOTMAN TOWNSHIP, ON - On Tuesday, December 14, 2010, North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 near Jocko Point Road at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Furthermore, a tractor-trailer jackknifed at the same location attempting to avoid the collision and blocking the highway.

Blowing snow causing whiteout conditions, snow packed and icy highways resulted in a collision between two motor vehicles.

Police, ambulance and fire are currently on scene and extrication of both drivers is required.

There are serious injuries to both drivers.

Highway 17 is presently closed between North Bay and Sturgeon Falls. Highway 11 continues to be closed at Cedar Heights Rd, North Bay and at Highway 64 to the north.

At the present time Highway 64 remains open.

The investigation is ongoing.
