ELLIOT LAKE - On September 24, 2016, shortly after 7 p.m., members of the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to call for service regarding a sexual assault that occurred in the City of Elliot Lake.
Police attended the local hospital and learned that an eight-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by an older male.
As a result of the investigation, a 22-year-old male, from Elliot Lake, Ontario was arrested and charged with:
- Sexual Assault on a person under 16 years of age, contrary to section 271 of the Criminal Code (CC);
- Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age, contrary to section 151 of the CC; and
- Sexual exploitation, contrary to section 153(1)(a) of the CC.
He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Oct. 4, 2016.
