The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service asks you to please slow down and adjust your driving to road conditions.

They offer the following safe-driving tips for this winter season:

************************* - With fresh snowfall, road conditions may be slippery, especially near intersections, leave more space between vehicles. - Stopping distances are at least double on snowy roads, and even longer in icy conditions.

- Leave earlier to allow yourself a little extra time travelling to your destination.

- Drive safely and be extra cautious in the school areas.

- Check your headlights to make sure they are working.

- Clean your windshield (inside and out). Drivers should take time to clear snow and ice from all windows, mirrors and the roof of their vehicles and are asked to wait until the fog clears from the window before travelling.

- Have your wiper blades checked and replaced, if necessary.

- Fill your windshield washer fluid reservoir.

- Have winter tires installed.

- Winter weather can create driving hazards. Please be patient, drive with caution and care and have a safe winter season.
