18,800 passengers passed through the Sault Airport this month

18,800 passengers flew to and from the Sault Ste. Marie Airport in July 2019 for an increase of 2.1 per cent over July 2018; setting a record for best month of July in SSMADC history.

The previous July high was 18,695 in July 2017. This provides for an overall increase of 0.7 percent through the first four months of the SSMADC fiscal year 2019/2020. This provides for a running 12-month total of 213,694 passengers.

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport continues to be served daily by Air Canada Express, Bearskin Airlines, and Porter Airlines, with winter seasonal service provided by Sunwing Airlines. This winter Sunwing will be providing service to Veradero, Cuba.

The Sault Ste. Marie Airport has also seen ten straight months of increases in aircraft movements, these are movements of all type of aircraft; commercial, private, government, training;
