The highway is now open to one lane only (traffic in both directions will be passed intermittently in one available lane) and closed completely at times, for a short period, throughout the day today while investigators return to the scene along with officials from the Ministry of Environment to continue the investigation and clean-up.

************************* 11:19 p.m. update

As of 11 p.m., Highway 69 has been completely re-opened to traffic.

************************* Original story - 8:21 p.m.

SUDBURY - Highway 69 opened to one lane at approximately 6:45 p.m.

Shortly thereafter, officers had to close the highway again and it should re-open again to one lane at approximately 7:40 p.m. until approximately 11:30 p.m. tonight where it will re-open fully to both directions of travel.

Tomorrow morning (February 7, 2008) starting around 9 a.m., investigators with the Ministry of Environment will return to the scene to continue the investigation and clean-up and the highway is expected to be open to one lane and closed completely at times throughout the day.

Traffic in both directions will be passed intermittently in one available lane.
