**************************** On cloud 6/49: Group of 13 wins $2.9 million Lotto 6/49 jackpot

TORONTO - A group of 13 technology workers from the Oakville and Burlington region, who have been playing the lottery together for five years, are starting off the New Year on Cloud 6/49 after winning the January 5, 2011 Lotto 6/49 jackpot of $2.891,506.

"We are all very pleased! This is a very nice sum of money that will help make life more comfortable for all of us. Definitely a great way to start the year!" said group member Rick Gosden.

The group has been playing Lotto 6/49 on a weekly basis and says that patience is the key.

"We started playing 6/49 and just stuck with it!" said Gosden.

Many of the group members said that they are going to take some time to think about their plans for the money, but a few initial ideas included paying off debt and putting some money into RRSPs.

"We're just thrilled that this happened to us as a group. It's a great feeling!" smiled Gosden.

Since Lotto 6/49 was launched in June 1982, Ontario players have won more than $9.4 billion in prizes, including 1,201 jackpot wins.

As of December 29, 2010, there have been 2,811 Lotto 6/49 draws.
