***************************** One small fire started in the Nipigon district on August 24.

Excellent suppression efforts have brought the total number of fires burning in the province to 90.

Large amounts of lightning occurred province-wide on Wednesday, with several storm systems moving across both the West and East regions.

The Great Lakes area saw heavy rainfall, with scattered precipitation across the rest of the province.

Today, the west will experience sunny skies, and the east will be under cloud cover for a short part of the day.

Both regions will experience two days of dry weather with average seasonal temperatures.

No new fires were reported on August 24.

No new fires were reported by the evening of August 25.

There are an additional ten active fires in the region. 

A cluster of nine fires are located in Cochrane district, lightning caused, and are being observed around the border of James Bay.

The remaining fire is in Hearst district, human caused, and is under control at 1.0 hectares.

It is located north of Penelton Lake.

The fire hazard is low throughout the entire Northeast Region.
