VIDEO: ‘We have to take care of each other,’ police chief says

Chief Hugh Stevenson of Sault Police spoke to reporters Wednesday afternoon about the 'significant tragedy' that has devastated the entire community: a murder-suicide that killed five people, including three children

Chief Hugh Stevenson of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service met with reporters Wednesday afternoon to answer questions about Monday night’s tragic murder-suicide, which claimed the lives of three children, an adult woman and the gunman.

Another woman was shot but survived.

Sault Police have recovered two firearms — a long gun and a handgun — from one of the two houses where the victims were targeted.

Police also confirmed that the 44-year-old shooter was the subject of previous investigations related to intimate partner violence.
