SHADOWS OF THE MIND

*************************
Shadows of the Mind Film Festival organizers are pleased to invite media, sponsors, patrons and interested members of the community to the first ever Preview Night.

Stop by the Grand Theatre on Wednesday, February 18 and preview the amazingly diverse lineup of movies showing this year.

See the new state of the art 26 foot screen and HD projector purchased thanks to a Trillium grant and meet the volunteer committee that puts it all together.

Preview Night is intended to build awareness about Shadows, a five day film festival of top notch movies and documentaries from around the world.

Now in its 16th year, the event attracts an annual audience of 2,500 to 3,000 during the last week in February.

This year’s lineup includes films made in Canada, USA, Russia, England, Belgium/France, Palestine, Spain, and Italy.

More than just a movie Festival, Shadows incorporates panel discussions and special guest Q&A’s into many of its screenings.

In recent years the Festival has become the first time presenter of films shot in Sault Ste. Marie and these screenings have been big sellers.

This year’s films Filmed in the Sault - Screened in the Sault are: The Masked Saint (February 27 and 28) and Fall (March 1).

“We are a film festival that believes in the power of film to not only entertain, but to educate,” explains Festival Programmer Bill MacPherson. “Many of the films we show deal with subjects that will never make it to the mainstream in the Sault. That doesn’t mean they aren’t full of great stories and performances though. We always have a number of Academy Award and Canadian Screen Award nominees in the mix. Our slogan is ‘One movie can change you’, and we really do believe that.”

Over 20 movies will be shown between Wednesday, February 25 and Sunday, March 1.

There are also three screenings as a Pre-Shadows event on Tuesday the 24.

Some films are free or by donation.

Ticket prices and a complete listing of titles, times and locations, can be found on the Shadows website at www.shadowsfilmfest.com.

Tickets go on sale February 13 at the Station Mall, Dennis Street entrance.

Preview Night, February 18, is a come and go event.

Stop by the Grand Theatre anytime between 5 and 9 p.m.

Snacks and refreshments will be served, and a cash bar will be open.

Bring a friend and find out why Shadows is the movie event of the year.
