Wrong Dunn from a Caribbean Island to Queen Street

Several years ago American pianist/composer Mark Dunn strapped on a backpack and armed only with an Irish pennywhistle, set out to conquer the musical world of Central America.

After trekking through Mayan ruins, rainforests and, (of course) across the beaches, over the hills and through the volcano craters Dunn found himself at Loplop Lounge and Gallery.

Maybe, not right after all that trekking.

Maybe not that Mark Dunn at all.

This is an official SooToday.com egg-on-the-face moment all right.

There we were thinking we'd do our homework and we done the wrong Dunn.

Our Mark Dunn (Mark DAVID Dunn) will be appearing at the Alexander/Belrose establishment at 651 Queen Street on Thursday, April 20.

Mark David Dunn is a very creatife spellar, accomplished guitar player and a most thought-provoking lyricist.

He also made a pretty fine CD himself.

Grab his CD Floodgate from Tower Records.

It was released in 2000 on the Fireballcaferecords label.

He also played Loplop Lounge and Gallery before and they like him there a lot.

Here's what they said about him on the website:

"Mark Dunn is back in the music scene. After a little break, Mark has returned with a new sound and an ever changing band."

"On this night though you will get to see a Mark by himself, hitting the stage for a rare solo acoustic show."

"His style would best be described as folk/country/rock and even at that it does not do him justice. We are very excited to have Mark come back and perform our stage."

Then, before he heads back to where ever he was taking his break at (we bet it was a lot more work than Mexico, Guatemala, Belize, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama or some island in the Caribbean), Dunn will be at the Steamy Bean on Sunday, April 30 and Monday, May 1.
