The Wilkinson/LaRoue Family will perform at Historic Churches Program

The Central United Methodist Church (in Sault Michigan) will host the final program of the 2013 Historic Churches of Sault Ste. Marie season on Monday, August 19.

The 7 p.m. concert will feature the Wilkinson/LaRoue family performing A Musical Landscape.

The much-anticipated event will be a musical potpourri from classical to contemporary that will highlight the family's extensive musical talents.

A variety of instruments will be showcased, including violin, oboe, English horn, clarinet, French horn, trumpet, piano, organ, and mandolin.

Performers will include John and Cathy Wilkinson, Matthew Wilkinson, and Matthew and Mark LaRoue, with special guests Joanne Sweeley (Cathy's mother) and Laura Reynolds (Cathy's friend).

Built in 1893, Central United Methodist Church is located at 111 East Spruce Street.

It is one of the five churches that were featured on Monday evenings this summer.

The church will be open for viewing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. that evening.

Refreshments will be provided after the performance.

Admission is free.

Donations are accepted and greatly appreciated; they fund the annual printing of the brochure.

The Historic Churches program is a project of the Chippewa County Historical Society.

2013 marks the Society’s 13th year of showcasing these landmark structures that have played significant roles in the cultural history of Sault Ste. Marie.

Residents and visitors to the area are invited to attend the free program.
