Students graduating from Sault College’s Child and Youth Care program are set to host the 24th annual WALK (We All Love Kids) event this Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Addition information can be found in the following news release issued by Sault College:

Sault College’s graduating Child and Youth Care (CYC) students are giving back to our community by organizing and hosting the 24th annual WALK (We All Love Kids) event. The free event takes place in the College’s Health and Wellness Centre and throughout the college’s F Wing and E Wing on Sunday, April 7 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

With the support of many local organizations, staff, and students of the Sault College CYC program, WALK will offer free admission, activities, lunch, raffles and much more to Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma region families. All the donations collected by the CYC students will go to ARCH Hospice, specifically their children’s grief and bereavement support. The children’s grief and bereavement support will benefit from these funds by purchasing relevant grief resources for children receiving support and ensuring safer and more inclusive spaces for counselling sessions. The funds will help to support the ABC’s of Death Workshop provided by ARCH as well. There will be an opportunity at the event to donate directly to ARCH Hospice.

“We are all very proud of the work that we put into planning this event and we look forward to welcoming families to the College for this exciting and fun day. The proceeds are going to a necessary resource in our community, and we encourage families and agencies to support this event as much as possible,” says Dara Leis, chair of the Publicity Committee.

CYC students are proud and eager to collaborate with various local agencies, whose support is directly linked to the success of this event. The third-year CYC students would like to extend a special thank you to the community supporters for their generous donations for the raffle table, food, and/or their financial support, including Nogdawindamin, Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, Tulloch Engineering, and Metro. Their support of this event is instrumental in making it successful.

Parking is free in the J South lot. Everyone is required to enter through the F Wing, Health and Wellness Centre entrance. For a campus map, visit the website.
