After 15 weeks on the road, You Say Party! We Say Die! are ready for a break.

Since August 31, the band has toured Canada, the UK, Europe and Canada again.

The five-piece dance/punk/pop group from Vancouver, BC rolled into Sault Ste. Marie Monday afternoon in its trusty purple van to perform at Eargasm Records that evening.

A powerful opening set from the London-based "kings of the power stance," Chasing Mercury, set the stage for an evening of fierce music.

Happy to play a small room again, YSP! WSD! members Becky Ninkovic, Krista Loewen, Derek Adam, Stephen O'Shea and Devon Clifford were all teeth when they took the stage.

"All of you in the back of the room should know that the floor back there is molten lava. Unless you're wearing lava repellant boots, you should really move forward," joked O'Shea.

Convinced, the audience crowded around the band.

The performance was soaring with energy and personality as Ninkovic danced her way around the stage and through the crowd.

This recent long tour, while obviously trying at times, has clearly solidified them as a group allowing them to settle comfortably into their YSP! WSD! skin.

"This tour was a test of our limits," said Ninkovic. "And we discovered our limit was about a month and a half ago. But at least we know we can do it if we have to."

And what did they think of the venue?

"This place is awesome! I'm sh*tting my mind right now," exclaimed O'Shea.

With four dates left on the tour, YSP! WSD! is taking a much deserved break, hopefully touring Canada again come Spring.
