Two showcases highlight award nominees

This year’s Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards nominees to be featured at two showcases

SUDBURY - On the evening of Friday, April 27, this year’s Northern Ontario Music and Film Awards nominees will be featured at two showcases.

The film showcase will take place on Friday, April 27 at Rainbow Cinemas in downtown Sudbury, beginning at 7:30 p.m. 

This year’s nominated films include 2 music videos, a game of chess with the Grim Reaper, a modern yet timeless love story with universally comic appeal, a firefighting adventure, a documentary about the spiritual connection to the land that defines the Anishinabae, a short film about Sudbury past and present and a sneak peak of Film of the Year nominee Every Emotion Costs. 

On the same night, beginning at 10 p.m. at the Townehouse Tavern in downtown Sudbury, this year’s nominated musicians will take part in the music showcase. 

Each act will perform a 20 minute set. 

Artists featured at this year’s showcase include Sudbury’s Faye Blais, Ox and Angela Evans. 

Representing the Sault is Kalle Mattson, from Timmins Cindy Doire will be featured, Faraway Neighbours are coming from North Bay, Jean-Paul De Roover will be representing Thunder Bay and from Atikokan Sunday Wilde will be performing. 

Tickets for each showcase are $10 for MFM members and the general public.
