Andrew McAnsh returns to The Loft this weekend for what is being called the long-awaited release of his CD Music of the Great Lakes.

McAnsh delivers some of the most exciting contemporary jazz on the Canadian scene, says a news release. "With unique family ties to Sault Ste. Marie, Toronto trumpeter Andrew McAnsh performs music inspired by the land, Indigenous traditions and stories, and personal experiences."

“When I invited Andrew McAnsh to come play a show at The Loft last year, I knew it was going to be excellent," said Andree-Ann Deschenes of the Algoma Conservatory of Music. "However the experience we all had in the room as this amazing band of musicians played on stage was unique and transformative.

"I still hear about this show from those who attended over a year later, and I’m so excited that the Algoma U Music Program is able to host this band again. They are truly some of the most talented and innovative musicians on the Jazz scene at the moment."

With McAnsh on trumpet, drummer Mateo Mancuso, Rob Christian playing reeds, guitarist Andrew Marzotto and Jonathan Chapman on bass, the group performs March 30 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $40 and $20 for students. CDs will be on sale at the event.

All concert tickets are for sale online at www.algomaconservatory.com under Events. To purchase by phone with credit card call 705-971-4197.
