The Sault took it like a man (photos)

Alright, I'll come right out and say it. The music of Michelle Wright isn't quite my cup of tea. That does not mean I don't respect her talent and accomplishments.
Alright, I'll come right out and say it.

The music of Michelle Wright isn't quite my cup of tea.

That does not mean I don't respect her talent and accomplishments.

I have no choice but to admire someone who has recorded a song called My Give A Damn's Busted.

Wright also scores huge points in my book for her smokin' tune, Guitar Talk, penned by Colin Linden, one third of Blackie and the Rodeo Kings.

Wright performed in front of 1,100 fans Saturday night at the Steelback Centre as part of the 45th annual Winter Carnival Bon Soo.

It was definitely a festival highlight.

As she confidently strutted across stage wearing a sequined jacket as flashy as her voice, audience members could be spotted dancing up storms and singing along with every word.

Cindy Hertz and Larry Holbrook seemed especially into the pop country that filled the arena.

I interrupted their lively dance to find out what it was about Wright they loved so much.

"A lot of her songs really speak to people and they're easy to sing along with," said Hertz. "They hold a lot of meaning."

Another enthusiastic participant, Bruce Selin, simply stated: "She's Canadian and she's sexy."

That she is indeed.

The evening's set list included Safe in the Arms of Love, Everything and More, Dance in the Boat, Ridin' Around the Sun, Voodoo, I Don't Wanna Be That Strong, Nobody's Girl and the big crowd-pleaser, Take it Like a Man.

What's next?
