Earlier this month, CBC sent the call out for nominations of Canadian music to be included in '49 Songs from North of the 49th Parallel', a playlist for US President Barack Obama.

Earlier this month, CBC sent the call out for nominations of Canadian music to be included in '49 Songs from North of the 49th Parallel', a playlist for US President Barack Obama.

A shortlist was tallied, votes were cast, and today CBC Radio revealed the quintessential 49 tunes as chosen by Canadian music fans from coast to coast.

Legends including The Tragically Hip, Joni Mitchell, Oscar Peterson, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, and Gordon Lightfoot were honoured with two picks each.
