Sault Ste. Marie turns silver on November 27, 2010

The Steeltown Silver Band is thrilled to announce their second annual Christmas concert to celebrate the beginning of the 2010 holiday season in full grandeur at the Willowgrove United Church on November 27, 2010, beginning at 7 p.m.

This concert will get your toes tapping while you take a stroll down memory lane with classic and contemporary numbers and is sure to have you humming these tunes all the way home.

The Steeltown Silver Band brings the highest standards of excellence to Sault Ste. Marie through the most unique sound heard in many years.

The 26 band members play a variety of religious and secular music to celebrate the Christmas season with unique arrangements and styles including Swing, March and nostalgic numbers from Christmases past, as well as contemporary arrangements and medleys.

Beginning its fifth year in operation and having showcased the amazing talent of members young, and not-so-young, throughout the community and in partnerships with various other local organizations, this concert promises to deliver the best kick off to the holiday season that the Sault can offer.

The evening of entertainment will also feature presentations by well known local violinist, Victoria Jones winner of the 2010 Kiwanis Music Festival Shield.

Founded in 2005, the Steeltown Silver Band became the realization of a collective vision to achieve a setting which provided the Sault with professional calibre performances, and provides its members with the chance to showcase their talent while creating a family of musicians who share the same passion for musicianship and brass banding.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $10 for adults.

Children 12 years and younger are free with a paying adult.

Advanced ticket purchases are recommended and can be reserved by e-mail or by calling 575-8724.
