Rae Spoon brings a by the people, for the people, twang to the Downbeat Lounge on Thursday May 4.

The gig commences about 9:30 p.m.

"Spoon is a young artist who proudly follows in the time-honoured tradition of the singers he reveres," says Spoon's space. "Armed with influences such as Woodie Guthrie and Hank Williams, a new and youthful perspective, and the cowboy-folk twang that is borne out of Rae's history as an Albertan, this is music by the people, for the people."

Spoon hit the Canadian roots scene in 2001 and has since built a diverse following that includes peers and presenters.

Spoon has performed at festivals such as North Country Fair, and South Country Fair, and at folk festivals in Vancouver, Regina, Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton.
