Arts Council invites writers to submit for poetry contest

Calling all word-nerds, wordjolists, syntax-sweeties and literates . . .

The Arts Council of Sault Ste. Marie & District is accepting entries for its fourth annual poetry contest until February 16.

Works must be no more than 30 lines.

There is a $5 entry fee per poem.

There is no maximum on the number of poems entered.

A prize of $50 will be awarded to the contest winner.

Entries will be accepted from across the nation, making the contest even more appealing to those who wish for some competition outside of their own stomping and writing grounds.

Gail Nelson, an executive director for the Arts Council, speaks on the relevancy of the poetry contest: “It (the contest) should be supported because writers are members of the arts community and we strive to support them.”

The winner’s and runner-ups’ impressive works will be featured in the April edition of ARTiculations, the Arts Council magazine publication.

The competition is a fundraiser for the Arts Council.
