Sunday evening starting at 7 p.m., the Sault Symphony Orchestra will present a virtual Mother's Day concert.

The online event is free to enjoy, but viewers are encouraged to make a donation to assist the Symphony's eventual return to in-person concerts once public health restrictions allow, said a news release issued today.

Full text of the news release follows:

The Sault Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is pleased to be presenting another virtual concert, this one to help families with their virtual Mother’s Day celebrations.

The concert will be presented via the SSO’s Facebook page and on Youtube at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 9. It will feature performances of such well-known pieces as Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Blanc’s String Quintet No. 3 in D Major, and Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, 581. It will also include some special performances just for the mothers in the audience!

Although we will not be ticketing for the event, the SSO encourages supporters to make a donation, of any size, to the Symphony in lieu of admission fees. Those donations will ensure that the SSO is able to present in-person concerts again when pandemic restrictions allow.

All donors will receive a charitable receipt, and donations can be made online, or via cheque sent to:
Sault Symphony Orchestra
c/o Kimlan Bell, Treasurer
23 Great Northern Road
Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6B 4Y4

The SSO also invites all supporters to pre-order one of our t-shirts. For just $25 and with nine fun designs to choose from, a Sault Symphony Orchestra t-shirt is a great way to support the organization. You can order yours online.
