Since creating The Vinyl Cafe in 1994, author and humourist Stuart McLean has become a Canadian household name.

The hour-long CBC radio show features essays, commentary and stories written and recited by McLean as well as a variety of music from Canadian artists.

The show has visited countless theatres across North America, broadcasting on CBC Radio One, a number of public stations in the U.S., and Sirius Satellite channel 169.

On Sunday, October 5, McLean brings The Vinyl Cafe to Sault Ste. Marie for a performance at the Kiwanis Community Theatre Centre at 3 p.m.

Joining McLean for the Ontario dates of the current fall tour (including stops in Lindsay, St. Catharines and Sudbury) is Sault Ste. Marie's own Kalle Mattson.

"I was asked to be a part of the tour about four months ago and it was pretty surreal," Mattson told SooToday.com. "I was a big fan of The Vinyl Cafe already and its a such Canadian institution and a part of our culture. It's a huge honour to be out here for these shows."

Tickets for Sunday's Vinyl Cafe show are currently on sale at the Community Box Office located in the Station Mall or online at www.kctc.ca

This Vinyl Cafe tour celebrates the release of McLean's latest collection of Dave and Morley stories in a four-CD package, Stuart McLean - Vinyl Cafe - The Auto Pack.
