AUDITION NOTICE

*****************************
Theatre Algoma will hold auditions in November for its upcoming production of Timberlake Wertenbaker's The Love of the Nightingale, to be directed by Amanda Zuke.

Auditions will take place on Friday, November 10 at 7 p.m., and at 3 p.m. on both Saturday, November 11 and Sunday, November 12 in the Algoma University College Theatre.

Roles are available for actors of all ages and backgrounds; no experience is necessary.

The Love of the Nightingale is a powerful retelling of Ovid's myth of Philomela.

When Procne is betrothed to Tereus, King of Thrace, Philomela swears to visit her sister whenever Procne asks for her.

After five years, the call comes and the young Athenian princess sets sail, only to discover that despite his promise to protect her on the journey, Tereus' motives are anything but honourable.

Raped, mutilated, and imprisoned, Philomela is left to invent a new way to tell her story and find justice.

The Love of the Nightingale explores the power of truth and the price of silence against a backdrop of war and deceit.

For more information, please contact director Amanda Zuke by email at [email protected] or by telephone at (705) 254-5072.
