MTV yesterday announced that the brilliantly funny Sarah Silverman will take the hosting reins for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, airing live on MTV in Canada on Sunday, June 3, 2007 at 8 p.m. ET.

Star of both big screen and small, Silverman will lend her unique brand of provocative comedy to this year's ceremony, which will be broadcast from the Gibson Theater in Universal City, California.

As previously announced, the 2007 MTV Movie Awards will be executive produced by Emmy Award winning producer Mark Burnett.

Performers, nominees, and presenters for the 2007 MTV Movie Awards will be announced at a later date.

"I was supposed to get a dental cleaning that day, but it got moved, so then I was available," said Sarah Silverman.

"Sarah's irreverent, no holds barred sarcasm and humor have made her one of the hottest up-and-coming comedians in the industry," said Christina Norman, President, MTV in the United States. "Sarah is just the person to orchestrate the madness and keep everyone guessing about who'll be her next target."

The 2007 MTV Movie Awards is just the most recent addition to Sarah Silverman's growing list of credits.

She has also starred in Jeff Garlin's I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With and the acclaimed The Aristocrats.
