Runners get powdered at Community Strong Festival (12 photos)

Supporting Algoma Family Services and the YMCA, Saturday’s event featured a 5 km colour run as well as a 10 km run

Runners of all ages were almost unrecognizable by the time they crossed the finish line at the Community Strong Festival’s 5-kilometre Colour Run on Saturday.

Taking off at 10:15 this morning, runners were hit with colourful powder as they jogged the 5 km trail along the St. Marys River.

The Community Strong Festival also provided a 10 km run earlier in the morning, which saw around a dozen runners complete a lengthier jog.

The festival will return to the Canal District tomorrow, featuring a marathon and a half-marathon.

Funds raised from the weekend will go towards the AFS Foundation to help with their services, assessments, and treatment programs, as well as the YMCA to provide locals of all ages with better access to recreational activities.
