Ron Asheton, guitarist and founding member of the Iggy Pop-fronted iconic punk band, The Stooges, was found dead this morning at his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The Detroit Free Press reports that Asheton's body was discovered after police received an anonymous call asking that they check on him because he hadn't been heard from in a few days.
Although foul play is not suspected, the cause of death remains under investigation.
The Stooges are among this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame nominees.
Final inductees are expected to be announced later this month.
Asheton was 60 years old.
