Pridefest 2022 kicks off with ceremonial flag raising (34 photos)

Following the ceremony at City Hall, attendees walked to the Bushplane for Loud & Proud Family Fun Day

Pridefest is officially on.

In what was estimated to be their greatest showing in nine years of ceremonies, Sault Pride members, allies, and supporters gathered at City Hall to officially kick off this year’s installment of Pridefest.

The week-long festival features a number of fun, educational, and empowering events being held all across town.

Several Sault Pride representatives, guest speakers, and politicians were among those who offered speeches this afternoon at City Hall, all of whom provided strong words of encouragement and support for the local 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

After the Pride flag was raised, members and allies joined together and walked to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre for this year’s Loud & Proud Family Fun Day.

The event runs until 5 p.m. and features local vendors, live entertainment, and lots of food and treats.
