Movies in Motion Pledge Run

Sault Ste. Marie based filmmakers Chris Nash [shown], Chris Pozzebon, and Michael Naphan, will be holding a fundraising event at the end of August in support of their latest filmmaking venture.

Working with Algoma International Films (Sault Ste. Marie's film society), on Saturday August 26, the group will be holding a pledge run at the Sault Ste. Marie YMCA.

Within the last year, Nash, Pozzebon, and Naphan have seen international recognition with their short films, and have had their work featured on national television as part of The JR Digs Show on Global CH.

The Smoking Section, a short film by Pozzebon and Naphan, has been showcased at festivals across the United States and was recently hand-picked to screen at Dennis Hopper's Cine Vegas Film Festival in Las Vegas.

Nash's short film Day of John has screened at various film festivals internationally and, in June of this year, earned him the honour of Best Emerging Canadian Filmmaker at the Canadian Film Centre's Worldwide Short Film Festival.

Proud supporters of their hometown, the filmmakers plan to produce three feature-length films in Sault Ste. Marie over the next three years.

To raise both funding and awareness for this undertaking they will be approaching local businesses and private investors, asking a small pledge for every kilometre Chris Nash runs at the YMCA track from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on August 26.
