Old Time Radio Players coming February 20

The Sault Ste Marie Military Family Support Group (SSM MFSG) will present Old Time Radio Mystery Theatre featuring the Old Time Radio Players at the Windsor Park Ballroom on Saturday, February 20, 2010.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and theatre begins at 8:00 p.m.

Appetizers will be served and a cash bar will be available.

Cost is $20 per person with all proceeds going to the SSM MFSG.

Tickets are available now at Lou Madonna Optical at Station Mall, the Recruiting Centre at Cambrian Mall and at SSM MFSG office at the Armoury.

The Old Time Radio (OTR) Players, a group of former Sault Ste. Marie radio and television broadcasters, current theatre performers and others, read vintage radio play scripts from the golden age of radio – such as Fibber McGee and Molly, Flash Gordon and Father Knows Best – as a live stage show.

Some presentations – including this one – also feature original scripts and a related murder mystery, in association with Shot in the Dark Productions and owner/producer Sue Barber.

In many parts of North America, Old Time Radio (OTR) groups reflect on and recreate radio as it was in the 1930s-40s when plays and drama were common fare with huge followings.

In Sault Ste, Marie that Golden Age of Radio is kept alive through the local OTR Players group that has performed fundraising and ‘fun-raising’ events since the group formed in 2003.

The SSM MFSG meets monthly at the Branch 25 Royal Canadian Legion and has many other activities, information and resources for military families in Sault and area.
