Old Time Christmas concert rings in festive support for charities

Early present for Christmas Cheer and Salvation Army as each received $4,000

Organizers of the fifth Old Time Christmas Concert held this past Saturday at Central United Church say Sault Ste. Marie has done it again by showing its generosity and support.

Sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore and supported by Central United, Fountain Tire, Oldies 93, and Country 105, the event once again featured talented Sault musicians entertaining the crowd for more than two hours.

The concert was headlined by Dave Anich Northern Grass featuring Mike Kienhofer, Marshall Jaaskelainen, Trevor Simpson, Frank Deresti, Jay Case and Peter Harbocian.

Additional special guest performances included emcee and Country 105 morning man Jeff McNeice and a duet performance by up-and-coming young artists Tianna Legacy and Brandon Ruch.

The evening started with a prelude from Algoma University jazz duo Brandon Ruch and Sean McQuilter.

Proceeds from the $20 ticket sales were donated to Christmas Cheer and the Salvation Army, with each organization receiving a cheque for $4,000 thanks to ticket sales and donations.

"Both charities reminded the crowd that the need in the community is even now greater than ever," Anthony Orazietti, president of the Kiwanis Club of Lakeshore said.

"The concert was our way of kicking off the holiday season knowing that proceeds will help both charities make it a brighter year for many in our community.”

“Without our sponsors, supporters, entertainers donating their time and talent, volunteers, and patrons, this event is not possible and each of them share in its success,” he added.
