Northern Ontario music development program deadline announced

SUDBURY, March 5, 2007 - Music and Film in Motion (MFM) is excited to announce the upcoming deadline for their Northern Ontario Music Development Program (NOMDP) as April 17th, 2007.

The submission period is now officially open and MFM is looking forward to seeing another batch of successful applicants.

The NOMDP has been created to further assist Northern Ontario music artists and businesses in all career stages (emerging, mid-career, and established) in the form of direct, hands-on support and planning.

In lieu of a financial contribution, the NOMDP will allow recipients to create a working relationship directly with Music and Film in Motion.

Support will be tailored around their specific project needs and the recipient would gain access to MFM’s extensive industry knowledge and contact database.

While financing is important to the development of the industry, more so is the need for direct, hands-on support to artists and newly formed businesses.

The NOMDP was created to offer hands on support services in the following areas: project development and planning support, marketing and publicity support, and touring and logistical support.

"Artists are artists; creating is what they do best. That being said, the music industry is a business and that's where we come in," states MFM Executive Director Dennis Landry. "The NOMDP will provide a structure that will allow us to support music artists and businesses where MFM excels, in marketing, public relations, planning and logistics."

If you have a project you are working on, or have an idea that you would like to pursue and would like some assistance from MFM, please apply to the NOMDP before April 17th, 2007.

The NOMDP is available to anyone, and open to any projects, as long as they contribute to the development and promotion of the Northern Ontario music industry.

To help those thinking of applying, MFM will be holding an information session discussing the details of the NOMDP on Wednesday, March 14th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
